This puts tiktokio users at an average economic risk of 2,000 euros for each violation.
Compared with traditional video downloads, the technical processing of story content is more complex. tiktokio needs to deal with the TikTok server’s key exchange protocol that changes every 72 hours, which leads to a monthly fluctuation of ±25% in the decryption failure rate. Research by cybersecurity firm CheckPoint shows that the probability of third-party story download tools being injected with malicious code is three times that of ordinary video download tools, and the risk of user privacy leakage increases by 45%.
The challenge of timeliness should not be ignored either. As the longest lifecycle of story content is only 1,440 minutes, tiktokio has to race against time to cache it. In actual use, due to network latency, it takes an average of 90 seconds to download each story, which means that users can only try to download a maximum of 960 stories. This upper limit greatly reduces the actual effectiveness of the tool. As experts from the Electronic Frontier Foundation pointed out, instead of relying on tiktokio, which has legal risks, it is better to use the official archiving function authorized by TikTok. Although it costs $5 per month, it can guarantee 100% compliance and integrity of the content.
